BOOK A MALA PARTY
What is a Mala?
Malas (also known as Buddhist Prayer Beads) have been around for thousands of years and have been used in Buddhism and Hinduism for centuries. They consist of 108 beads and are accented with a larger gemstone or tassel (also known as a guru bead). Malas can be made from gemstones that match the intention of your practice, and often malas are placed in shrines as a reminder of affirmations. One can use a mala to keep count while reciting, chanting or mentally repeating a mantra or names of a deity. With using a mala, each bead is used for the intention. Start at the first bead closest to the guru bead (large gemstone) and count each bead while turning the thumb clockwise while repeating the mantra. The charm that is located at the top of the mala loop acts as a halfway marker so that one’s mediation isn’t interrupted. The cycle is completed when the last bead is counted at the other end of the guru (large gemstone). One can repeat this cycle as many times as needed.
A mala party is a gathering of like minded individuals that wish to spend some quality time with friends or family to create a beautiful piece to aid in meditation or manifestation. The size of the group can range from one person to as many as ten people. Witch A Makin supplies everything else that is required to make a mala from the materials. The party can take anywhere from one hour to 5 hours depending on the quantity of participants.
The cost associated with mala parties is $40 per person.
As an incentive, if the host of the party has more than 5 participants, the host will receive their mala at no cost.
